Man weren't the first children of God to inhabit the earth. That honor went to the Nephilims, whom in spite what the stories say weren't the children of angel and man. In fact, neither existed when nephilims were brought into existence, at least not in the manner that man has come to believe. There was one angel named Rahab whom is considered the father of the nephilims just as much as God is considered their mother, but he was a very different type of angel than the ones whom would come later. Both God and Rahab marveled at the universe and all the planets that now populated it---especially the earth, which seemed to them to hold an unparalleled beauty. God and Rahab hoped that their children would share their delight over the universe and all that it offered, but that was not to be. The nephilims only viewed the world as a tool. This did not please either God or Rahab. God believed that given enough time they would come to see the beauty within the universe, but Rahab thought they were incapable of such a thing.

Many surely were, but there were some--like Baal--whom if they had expressed what was going on inside might have eased some of Rahab's doubt. At least, Baal likes to think there were others like him whom wished to see the universe in the same manner that their mother and father did. Try as he might, however, Baal couldn't see the beauty within the world--not with the part that looked at the world and was filled with awe by it that is. He knew it was there. His eyes saw it. Yet, he felt nothing for it. Truth be told, he felt...nothing? Was that the right word? The world existed yet he was detached from it. He found no joy or sorrow within it. He thought of telling his mother and father how he felt, but before he could Rahab decided to kill all the nephilims in a great flood. The water washed over the world quicker than any could anticipated.  Many perished before they knew what had happened. Others fled the water thinking that if they ran far enough they could escape the waves.

There was no place upon the earth that was safe from the water, and many of those whom managed to escape the initial onslaught of Rahab's flood perished when they found no safe harbor from the water. However, Baal and a few others discovered how to flee the earth, and by doing so they kept themselves from dying with all the rest. How they managed to pull this off was anyone's guess. They might have been more connected to the nothing that Rahab and God had pulled them from, and used that connection to return to the darkness. It might have been they were the nephilims whom had a semblance of emotions and it was that which allowed them to think of another way of escaping the water other than running across land that was clearly only going to be swallowed up by it. Whatever the reason Baal and others of his found themselves back into the nothing where they dwelled until man brought them back.

Things had changed a great deal while they were away. God tried her hand at creating more children. First, she made angels as man would know them. But, she made them different than Baal and the other nephilims. Instead of pulling these angel's essence from the nothing she took them from the light and warmth. These angels while having the capability to do wrong weren't devoid of emotions like the nephilims had been. Man followed suit not long after. They were created to inherit the earth that was originally was suppose to belong to Baal and his other siblings, but God did not wish to make the same mistake she had with Rahab's and hers first children. So, she decided to put them within a realm she named the Garden of Eden in order to allow them to grow and develop emotions before she thrust them into the world that was going to be theirs, but events would unfold that would cause them to inherit the earth quicker than God had planned.

Some of the angels had taken noticed of man and decided to visit them within the Garden of Eden. God was perfectly fine with that--as long as angels didn't reveal things to man she believed they weren't for yet. It, however, became clear she had to make her desire for humans not to be given knowledge they weren't ready for into an direct order instead of simple request. One angel by the name of Samael decided to get around God's command by convincing Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge. Eve turned around and convinced Adam to do the same. The tree changed them. It made them aware of themselves in ways they hadn't before. They looked down upon their naked form and felt shame. God banished man to earth, and she commanded that angels bowed before man. Most did as she ordered, but not Lucifer. He refused and the great rebellion of heaven occurred which would eventually lead to him and those that followed him being cast out of heaven. Lucifer ended up in hell and he started to build his kingdom to reveal that of heaven's.

While this was happening man were forming and creating societies. God had decided to leave them alone, and since she wasn't there to tell them how they came to be they had to find answer elsewhere. The nothing was more than happy to provide these answers. Beings from the nothing begun to find themselves upon the earth--including some of the nephilims like Baal whom had been the original owners of the earth. Man begun to worship these beings as gods, and these being relished over it. Baal came to be worshiped as a god of fertility--not just in regard in man's ability to bear children, but also in the lands ability to grow crops. This was not the only god he was known as he also came to be known as king of the gods for drawing back the endless sea that Yam, which was just another name that man had given Rahab, had created when he decided to flood the earth and gave man land to flourish upon. Man, also, claimed that Baal was the only one preventing Yam from flooding the earth yet again.

Baal found great amusement within these stories, but he did nothing to disprove them, Man could believe what they wished. Truth be told, he enjoyed being worshiped. It was than he realized something--he felt. He didn't know when this happened. Had it occurred when he found himself being pulled from the nothing a second time? Had these feelings been swirling up inside him the entire time growing and developing but could only reveal themselves outside the nothing? It was impossible to say. What he did know was he found beauty within both the world and the humans whom worshiped him. He took countless humans--both male and females--as his lovers. Things were good, but it wasn't going to last. While God had decided not to intervene with man she still watched them, and she decided she didn't like what she saw.

She concluded that it was time man learned the truth of how they came to be. This revolution did not please those whom man had been worshiping as gods. They liked the benefits that came with being worshiped, and some feared they would fade away if they were not regarded as gods. Baal knew this was silly. He knew they wouldn't cease to exist just because man no longer worshiped them. It might have been because he knew he existed before he found himself upon an earth populated by man. Both might have been true. He might not fade away because he was a nephilim, but those whom feared they would might because they had been created by the nothing to answer the question about how they came to be. However, like many of the others Baal had enjoyed being worshiped and all that came with it.

It was for that reason when Lucifer came to the earth and asked these fallen gods to join his rank that Baal agreed. Many of these fallen gods followed Baal example. It might have been because like Baal they saw the opportunities that Lucifer was offering them. It was, also, possible that these fallen gods regarded Baal as their king as much as the humans did. Others refused. They had no desire of being the subject of someone else. They might have believed that the entire thing with God and Lucifer was going to be a short term deal, and that when they eventually faded away they could sweep in and become the supreme deity. This would not come to pass. Through, a few did manage to maintain their worshipers for time, but they either found themselves being killed by those whom accused them of either  being with the forces of heaven or the forces of hell. Those whom weren't slaughtered ended up taking Lucifer's offer after all.

They realized that under Lucifer's rule they were still being worshiped in some manner and that if they helped him take over the earth that this would continue to be so. How they gained control over the earth came in claiming human souls, and they gained these souls by convincing man to sin. It was in these willing to sin that man showed their rejection of the will of God and their acceptance of Lucfier's. God tried what she could to convince man to stay aligned with her. She even created the knights of heaven to combat the knight of hell and give those humans whom were still loyal to her a fighting chance, but there are many whom believe these knights of heaven are only delaying the inevitable. During this time, Lucifer decided to shape his kingdom to have four princes to rule over everything, and Baal became one of these princes.

It was this position that allowed him to gain a friendship with the highest ranking angels of heaven. The angel whom has grown closest to is the one named Gabriel. They often visit each other, and she seemed to have an obsession with his hair, which she claimed is a gateway into the void. She will often put items into his hair as an attempt to open this gateway, or at least a place to store them. He finds the entire thing to be amusing mostly because Gabriel has no idea just how connected to the nothing he truly is. Only God and Rahab might suspects the truth. It might be possible that both know, but neither have said anything. Others just have stories of how he came to be, but they have no clue which of these stories are true--if any. Like with the stories of him parting the endless ocean and keeping Yam at bay in order to ensure that the world isn't covered in water again, Baal has no desire of telling anyone the truth. It doesn't matter what they believe.
